Luxury Lingerie:
Unboxing as a Brand Ritual

Challenge

How does packaging design translate into measurable brand equity for a luxury fashion label?

Insight

Customers told us they never wanted the unboxing experience to end, but that a crushed box could crush the whole moment. They weren’t anticipating the delivery of a garment, they were anticipating the arrival of a feeling.

Acting as the packaging design agency, Niki and Scott realised packaging wasn’t logistics. It was the brand story landing in someone’s hands. The packaging needed to extend the customer experience before and after the handover, and become part of the brand’s lore.

Creative packaging design solution with satin ribbon handle and abstract foil branding

How does product packaging design elevate the luxury fashion unboxing experience?

Scott’s creative packaging design started with a strong, striking mailing box with tactile surfaces in brand colours that would elicit an eyebrow-raise even before the delivery person handed it over.

An abstract foil logo wrapped around the entire box, which was held by a satin ribbon handle. Once the cheeky sticker seal was broken, the lid lifted to reveal the delicate items inside held in place on a folded card bodyform. Hidden delights were concealed beneath a false bottom to keep the experience going after the reveal and encourage the customer to ‘Dare to be Different’ and share their look.

In case you were wondering

  • Inside it. We're a full-service marketing and creative agency, so the box is designed as one expression of your brand idea, working with your campaign, content and CRM. For Made by Niki the packaging became an integral part of the campaign. If that’s the connected thinking you want, let’s talk.

  • A considered overhaul typically runs 10 to 16 weeks — discovery, design, prototyping and luxury-grade print finishing. We can move faster on a focused refresh. Everything starts with a conversation about what your launch window actually needs.

  • Both. For Made by Niki, the box drove +25% repeat orders, +15% conversion and -20% returns — because it changed how customers felt before, during and after the handover. If you want creative packaging that pays back, let’s have a conversation.
